Information To EASE Your Mind
1.  Is it a complicated process to set up webScore?

No, it is not complicated.  Events and uploaded reports (including photos and videos) are stored on a remote server maintained by DevTech One, webScore's creator.  That way, you are relieved of server and maintenance responsibilities.  You can then rest assured that your uploaded information will always be available to you and your website visitors with no further requirements from you, or from your IT support group.

You will be provided with a small unit of code that is easily installed at one or more locations you choose on your organization's website.  That code generates a webScore icon and a link to the server where webScore stores your events and uploaded information.

Viewers on your webScore link will also be provided with a "Return" button that allows them to quickly and easily return to your site any time they choose.

You will also be instructed to install our RemoteReporter™ software on the computer or the PC your group selects as the webScore Administrator. RemoteReporter is the proprietary program used to upload play-by-play and other descriptive reports, as well as photos and video clips of your events.  RemoteReporter should also be installed on other PCs - including laptops - to be used by the on-site Reporters designated by your Administrator.

2.  What does webScore cost?

webScore is available on a 12-month subscription basis billed either monthly or annually.  Please email us for pricing at sales@webScore.NET.  Your 12-month subscription fee includes:
A) use of RemoteReporter software on one (1) Administrator computer and on one (1) Reporter computer, B) use of the
webScore server to store and display your information for your subscription year, and C) for the webScore link code and icon used on your site's webpage.  WebScore will retain your uploaded data for one (1) year past your current subscription year.

Additional installations of RemoteReporter software are available if, for example, you plan to cover multiple events at the same time and need more than one remote computer operating at the same time.  Please contact us for pricing on additional installations of RemoteReporter at sales@webScore.NETArchived data from the webScore server is also available should you require copies of reports stored on the server made by your organization.  There is a nominal charge for this service.

3.  Are there any other costs involved with webScore?

Other than possible costs associated with the system requirements outlined below, webScore provides virtually all of your sports and event reporting and website viewing features with no additional expenses on your part.

Your group probably already has the required computer hardware and software for your basic system requirements.  You may even have wireless communications service, though wireless communications is not required for webScore to function.  Your reports can be easily uploaded using either dial-up or broadband wired connectivity.  Wireless service, however, can make reporting from venue sites much more convenient.  webScore can assist you in contacting and working with your local wireless provider for equipment and other details.

If requested, webScore can reproduce your organization's graphics and colors so visitors will experience a continuity of appearance between what webScore provides and your organization's own website.  Those customized graphics will be billed separately.  Charges will vary depending on your project's complexity.

Customized graphics for advertisers who support your webScore linked pages is also available at an additional cost.

4.  What about product upgrades?

New and advanced features, which are always on the "drawing board", may be offered at an additional cost. The resolution of "bugs" and other system idiosyncrasies are typically made available at no cost to existing subscribers.

5.  Does webScore provide a User's Manual?

WebScore provides a comprehensive RemoteReporter User's Manual that supports both the administrator and reporting functions.

6.  Does webScore provide support and training?

WebScore is ready to provide all of the telephone and email support that you require.  However, WebScore is inherently a simple reporting and uploading system to use, and simple to install and maintain.  Extensive support is not normally required so that support, should it be needed, can be successfully handled via telephone and/or email contact.

7.  What System Specs does webScore require?

RemoteReporter software requires Windows 98 operating system or higher be installed.  Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher, and Microsoft Access 2000 or higher must also be installed.  We recommend using Windows XP Service Pak 2 or Windows 2000 for best results.  Minimal system memory recommendations are 128Mb RAM and a 20Gb to 30Gb hard drive.  Storage of large numbers of photos and/or video clip files may necessitate increasing these latter two recommendations.

Laptops intended for wireless application will require a Type II PCMCIA slot and the installation of your wireless service provider's required device.

Either a USB or "firewire" port can be used to connect your digital camera to upload photos and/or video clip files.

8.  Does webScore offer built-in security features?

webScore provides a number of security features, both to prevent unauthorized use and to help discourage intended or accidental abuse by Reporters while filing reports.

RemoteReporter is username and password protected for each individual user.  Only authorized reporters can open and use RemoteReporter to file reports. In addition, all reports can be traced to the individual who created them, so your Administrator can monitor content and style as well as provide feedback to each Reporter.

Your Administrator can also limit the events for which a PC or laptop can be used to upload information, and can also limit which events a reporter can report on.

Your organization is also password protected to prevent other webScore users from gaining access to your site.

An optional word filter list can be customized by your Administrator to prevent specific words or names from being uploaded.

And finally, an option can be invoked by webScore that will allow an Administrator to review all reports uploaded by reporters before they are displayed on your website.
